Hiding within the traditional GT styling, the GT40 is an amplifier unlike any other in the history of Matamp. Taking inspiration from the other British amplifier company beginning with M and pairing it with a harmonically rich EL34 class A output stage, the GT40 delivers an unprecedented tonal response which any rock or blues player will feel instantly at home with.
Whether you are searching for classic rock tones from the late 60s, overdriven blues, brown sound or beyond, the GT40 will deliver. At home in either studio or stage, the Class A output section delivers great tones with ease. At 32w clean and around 40w overdriven, you can drive the amp and push the brace of EL34s to get classic overdrive tones normally associated with much louder amps without struggling for clean volume when required.
The simple layout allows you to dial in tones quickly and easily, it also plays nice with your favourite stomp box (pedals) which broadens your tonal range, pushing saturation even further.
On the front panel you’ll find the volume and gain are large traditional round knobs letting you have easy access to the most important controls on the amp. For ease and noise performance the passive series FX loop is located on the front panel. High and low inputs allow you to match your guitars for headroom or more drive. A combined standby and power switch completes the simple clean front panel.
Around the back all you’ll find switchable speaker outputs for 4, 8 and 16 ohms plus fuses and power inlet. Mains voltage is switchable on the back panel between 120 and 240 volts.
